Description: The Central Shilha, also known as the Mid Atlas Berber, are closely related to the Riff Berbers in the North and the Sousi Berbers in the South of Morocco. They are the second largest Berber group in North Africa after the Kabyle in Algeria.
Prayer Points:
• Five percent of the Central Shilha is composed of holy men called iguramen who are believed to possess magical powers to heal and excorcise evil spirits. Pray that these traditional healers might be delivered from Satanic manipulation and come to know the healing power of Jesus Christ.
• The Central Shilha are semi-nomadic with homes in both the mountains and the valley. Pray for dedicated missionary witness that will have the flexibility to travel with the Central Shilha and demonstrate how to follow and worship Jesus in a nomadic culture.
• The Scriptures have yet to be completed in the Tamazight dialect of the Central Shilha. Pray for the team working on this translation that they might receive the Holy Spirit's aid in communicating God's word in Tamazight.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may the authority and power given to your Son Jesus come to rest upon the Atlas mountains that His praises alone might be heard in its heights and valleys.
Every year 31,000 Central Shilha die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
