Description: The Buriat are a Mongolian related people who live primarily in the Republic of Buryatia, which is an autonomous area in Russia. Over the centuries they have incorporated elements of Tibetan and Chinese culture into their traditional Mongol-related culture.
Prayer Points:
• The Buriat were traditionally a nomadic people. Today, only the Eastern Buriat continue this practice. Pray for specialized outreach to those nomadic families, which may change their residency up to five times a year.
• Bible Translations and resources have been developed for the Buriat in Russia, though they are old and need revision. For those in China, who speak a different dialect, nothing has yet been developed. Pray that the resources in Russian Buriat might be updated and then adapted for the Chinese Buriat and might be distributed widely.
• The Buriat are the largest Buddhist people in Siberia and they are devout followers of the Dalai Lama. Pray that every stronghold among the Buriat might come under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
