February 9 / French Maghrebi

Description: The French Maghrebi are North African Arabs who have migrated to France over the last thirty years, primarily from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. They are the largest non-European ethnic group in France. They have settled primarily in the industrial regions of major cities like Paris.

Prayer Points:
• French Maghrebi young people are twice as likely to be unemployed, which has led to a growing discontent. Pray that God would raise up effective outreach to Maghrebi young people that would bring them hope in Christ.
• The growth of Islamic extremism among French Maghrebi has alarmed the government and led them to start a foundation to build mosques and train imams that will teach moderate views. Pray that the desperation felt by many Maghrebi would open their hearts to the witness of God's people in France.
• Maghrebi young people struggle with their dual allegience to France and Islam resulting in a growing generational divide in the Maghrebi community. Pray that God might use His church in France to bring families together through the gospel of peace and reconciliation.

A Prayer: Heavenly Father, you sovereignly brought the Maghrebi to France that they might find salvation in your Son Jesus. May this purpose be increasingly realized and embraced by the Maghrebi people.

Every year 30,000 French Maghrebis die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
