Description: The Pashtun in Iran are primarily refugees from the wars in their Afghan homeland. The first great migration happened during the Soviet invasion in the 1980s. Since that time their nation has known only war, making it very difficult for many to return.

• The Pashtun in Iran have become an important link in the opium trade from Afghanistan. Thousands have been arrested and some executed by the Iranian government for their involvement. Pray for deliverance from the curse of the drug trade and that those in prison might find salvation in Christ.
• Though many Pashtun in Iran have lived in this nation for decades now they are still regarded as foreigners and with suspicion. It is difficult for them to find employment, and they can face deportation at any time. Pray that believers in Iran might reach out to them and help them find a livelihood.
• Many Pashtun in Iran now speak Farsi fluently, which means they now have access to the same gospel broadcasts that have brought hundreds of thousands of Persians to Christ. Pray that the same movement might happen among them and might transfer over into Afghanistan.
