Description: The Tajakant are a North African tribe who speak Hassaniya Arabic and descend from intermarriage between Berber tribes and Arab bedouins. They live in Algeria, Mauritania and Morrocco, where they were historically reknown as traders and warriors.
Prayer Points:
• The Tajakant suffered ethnic-cleansing around 100 years ago, in which the majority of their tribe in Northern Algeria was killed by fellow Muslims. Pray for God's healing and restoration from this historic tragedy, and for redemption in Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
• In Morrocco, the Tajakant have gained recognition as Muslim scholars. Pray for God's revelation through His son Jesus to enter their hearts as they pursue truth and lead their people.
• The Tajakant were once largely nomadic, but now many have become farmers and urban traders. There are no known believers among them and no known ministry. Pray for the deployment of both urban and rural/nomadic ministry among them in the next year.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may your love and concern for the Tajakant enter the hearts of your people. Send forth workers among them and open doors for the gospel to be proclaimed.
Every year 13,000 Tajakant Bedouins die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
