Description: Bedouins in Egypt descend from ancient Arab tribal groups which have maintained a nomadic lifestyle going all the way back to Biblical times. The word Bedouin literally means one who lives in the desert, and for the bedouins in Egypt the desert is both their home and their refuge.
Prayer Points:
• The largest bedouin tribe in Egypt is the Tarabin, which inhabit the Sinai peninsula. They are proud protectors of Mt Sinai and are on the frontlines of the battle against ISIS and other terrorist groups. Pray for stability to come to this region and open doors for gospel witness.
• The Bedouins are perhaps the most hospitable and accepting people in Egypt, seeing themselves as a friend of Muslims, Jews and Christians. Pray that Christians in Egypt might receive a call to live among the Bedouins and adopt their nomadic lifestyle for the sake of Christ.
• Egyptian Bedouins are regarded with suspicion by the government and feel discriminated against. Young people especially feel isolated from the society at large and find it difficult to gain employment. Pray for a Christ-centered renewal of their culture which seeks separation from the world and goodwill.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, you promised to bless the bedouins, the descendants of Abraham. May they be blessed to be a blessing through Jesus.
Every year 8,000 Egyptian Bedouin die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
