Description: The Lak are an Iranian tribe who live primarily in Iran's Lorestan province. Their language and culture is closely related to the Luri people. They were the founders of the Zand dynasty that ruled central and souther Iran in the 18th century. The royal descendants of this dynasty continue to exert considerable influence over the Lurestan region even today.
Prayer Points:
• Little ethnographic research exists on the Lak because they have often been confused with the Luri people or the Kurds, and thus off the radar for outreach. Pray for mission surveyors to be raised up who will research their culture, language, social structure and needs.
• For the first time in history, a missionary effort has begun among the Lak. Pray for God's protection and blessing over this new beginning, and guidance to pursue divine opportunities for gospel witness.
• The Lak have no gospel resources in their language. Pray for the soon production of the Jesus Film, Bible translation, and audio recordings of bible stories.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, open wide the hearts of the Laki people and open every closed door for the gospel to advance in full force among this great people for whom Christ died.
