Description: The Kanarese are the descendants of Dravidian tribes which embraced certain elements of Hinduism while retaining much of their original customs, such as ancestor worship, burial of the dead, and sacrifice to local deities. The Kanarese live primarily in the Indian state of Kannada.

• Kanarese girls for whom not marriage match can be found are taken by their parents to the community guru who brands them with a stamp and sells them to a local temple to serve as a prostitute. There are an estimated 50,000 child prostitutes in Karnataka temples. Pray that these girls might be rescued and that the light of Christ would transform the darkness of deception over the Kanarese people.
• The Kanarese are known for their many Hindu reform movements, many of which have been anti-Brahman and anti-caste in their origin. Pray that the injustices of Hinduism would lead millions to seek the truth found in the gospel.
• The Kanarese are the least-evangelized of the Dravidian ethno-linguistic groups. Over 80% of their communities are without a church. Pray for a powerful church-planting movement enabled by the supernatural move of God's spirit.
