Description: The Pamiri are a cluster of related tribes which live primarily in the Gorno- Badakhshan province of Tajikistan. The four principle Pamiri tribes are the Shughni, Sarikoli, Yazgulyam and Wakhi. The Pamiri share close linguistic and cultural ties to the Wakhi people of Afghanistan and China.

• The Pamiri have struggled to protect their identity and autonomy from the Tajiks, resulting in an armed resistance movement. As a result they are cut off economically and politically from the world. Pray for lasting peace to come to this land through the gospel of reconciliation.
• The Pamiri are adherants to Ismailism, which is a sub-group of Shiism that teaches unorthodox beliefs like reincarnation and numerology. Pray that all spiritual powers associated with this false teaching might be bound under the authority of Jesus.
• The Pamiri are assisted financially through the Aga Khan foundation, which is led by the Prince Aga Khan IV, leader of the world's 20 million Ismailis. Pray for the salvation of this key leader and for the transformation of the influential Aga Khan foundation by the Spirit of Christ.
