Description: There are at least five Bedouin tribes in Libya, which collectively number over 750,000 members. They originate from 11th century migrations of Syrian and North Arabian nomadic Arab tribes.
Prayer Points:
• The Bedouins of Libya have been significant influenced by a sufi order known as the Senussi. This religious movement has a strong emphasis on the Mahdi, or coming Muslim deliverer. Pray for protection from false messiahs and that this desire for a savior might be fully met in the person of Jesus.
• A significant number of bedouins in Libya are dependant upon the Kufra oasis in southeastern Cyrenica, which is known as a hub for human trafficking. Pray that Bedouins tribes might be transformed by Christ and bring his righteousness and justice to this region.
• In Eastern Libya bedouin society has been historically divided between two social classes known as Saʿada and Murabtin, in which the Murabtin have been vassal clients of the noble Saada. Pray that the gospel of Christ might bring healing and reconciliation between these ancient desert tribes.
