Description: The Somalis are a Cushitic tribe divided into two major lineages called the Samale and the Sab. The Samale are nomadic pastoralists, and the Sab are cultivators and craftsmen. In recent times the country of Somalia has splintered into three autonomous regions, including Somaliland, Puntland and Somalia. Only Somalia in the South is recognized internationally.
Prayer Points:
• Somalis must be won for Christ, clan by clan, and tribe by tribe. Pray for spiritual breakthroughs in each one, and for the conversion of entire households.
• The Somali Bible is poorly circulated and "out of print". Pray for millions of copies to be made and distributed to every family.
• Over 400,000 Somali are in refugee camps in Kenya. Pray for effective ministry among them and training of leaders, evangelists and church-planters.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, glorify the name of your Son Jesus among the Somali and strengthen the the hearts of those seeking His kingdom.
Every year 72,000 Somalians die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
