Description: The Tuareg are a nomadic Berber sub-group which speak a unique dialect and traverse over 1 million square kilometers in the inhospitable Western Saharan desert. They are regarded as the "guardians of the Sahara."
Prayer Points:
• The Tuareg have maintained fierce independence for centuries, though decades of drought in the Sahel are forcing many to abandon the nomadic way of life. Pray for the compassionate ministries working among the Tuareg that they might have increased opportunity to share Jesus with those they are serving.
• Two Tuareg discipleship groups have been established in Mali and Burkina Faso. Pray for God's grace and protection on these new believers and for their ability to reach out to their extende families and tribes.
• There are seven major Tuareg tribes, and among these are many social castes, including a slave caste at the very bottom. Pray that the transforming power of the gospel might bring equality and freedom to all those in Tuareg society.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may the Tuareg carry forth your glory and announce the coming of your Son Jesus all throughout the Sahel and Saharan regions.
Every year 11,000 Tuaregs die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
