Description: The Ganda are a nation of 56 tribes united by a king. Although most are Christians, a substantial minority of over 30% are Muslims. The Muslim community dates back to the 1840s when the first Arab traders came to Uganda and converted the Ganda king to Islam.
Prayer Points:
• Massive outside investment from the Muslim world in Uganda is empowering the Ganda Muslims, and magnificent mosques are rising up all throughout the country. Pray that the spiritual strongholds of darkness seeking to establish their foothold over Uganda might be broken in the name of Jesus.
• The 20th century dictator Idi Amin was a Muslim who murdered thousands of Christians in Uganda, closed down churches and sought to Islamize the nation. Pray that the deep divide this caused between Muslims and Christians might be overcome by the couragous love of believers in Jesus.
• Recent attacks by Muslims on Christians in Uganda have left the nation on edge. Pray for a united response by Christians that demonstrates the power of forgiveness in Christ.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, we rejoice that you have the final say over the destiny of the Ganda Muslims and that you are drawing many to yourself through your Son Jesus.
Every year 10,000 Ganda Muslims die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
