Description: The Muhajirs are Urdu speaking Muslim immigrants to Pakistan who settled primarily in urban areas of Sindh province. Most came from North India, but others from as far south as the Dakhini region of Central India. Although incredibly diverse, they share a common heritage and identity as Indian immigrants affected by the 1947 partition of Pakistan and India.
Prayer Points:
• It is estimated that as many as 2 million peopled died and 14 million displaced in the aftermath of India and Pakistan's separation. This left a permanent scar on the Muhajirs, as most of their families were directly affected. Pray that God might use his people to bring healing and hope through the gospel and for the blood of Christ to be applied to this generational wound.
• Tensions between native Sindhis and Muhajirs have flared up over the decades, resulting in the so-called "language riots" of the 1970s. Pray that the emerging churches between these two communities might be able to demonstrate the unity we have in Christ as a witness to everyone in Pakistan.
• The Muhajirs represent dozens of major Muslim communities throughout India. Pray that a movement among them might become a missionary force that impacts the entire Muslim population of South Asia.
