Description: The Awadhi are an ethno-linguistic group closely related to the Hindustani cluster in north India. They predominately live in the Awadh region of central Uttar Pradesh. A significant number also live in the Terai region of Nepal.
Prayer Points:
• The Awadh region is located in the fertile ganges plain, and was once known as the granary of India. Today much of its people feel left behind economically as India industrializes. Pray that the blessings of heaven would flow into this region through the increased presence of God's people.
• The central city of the Awadhi people is Lucknow, which has over 3 million people and only a handful of churches. Pray that hundreds of church-planters would be sent to this city and for a church-planting movement that would begin here and impact the entire Awadh region.
• The largest sub-group among the Awadhi are the semi-nomadic Yadav people, numbering three million. They are herdsman by trade and are in need of special assistance to care for their cattle. Pray for workers to minister to the Yadav through this opportunity for service in Christ's name.
