Description: The Russian Avar are one of the largest indigenous people groups living in Dagestan. They are located within the Caucasus Mountain region, particularly in central and northwest Dagestan. They are a confederation of around 15 related tribes.
Prayer Points:
• Dagestan has been troubled by wars, terrorism and political crisis. Pray that the prince of peace would come and bring transformation through the witness of his people.
• The Avars are herdsmen and shepherds. Pray for creative ministry that address their felt-needs in this area.
• Ask God to raise up vision among the Armenian, Russian and Georgian Christians which surround the Dagestan area. Pray for an outpouring of love from your Church.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, let your light shine through your servants among the Avar. May the Church of Jesus Christ be established among them and bring healing to their land.
Every year 9,000 Avar die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
