Description: The Tamil Muslims are known as the Labbai in India and the Moors in Sri Lanka. Along the Coromandel coast of India and the northern coast of Sri Lanka, the Tamil Muslims are of mixed Arab and Tamil descent, and were converted by Shafi Arab traders.
Prayer Points:
• There are a few missionaries working among the Labbai in Tamil Nadu, and two fellowships have been established. Pray for the strengthening of these new house groups and for their soon multiplication from two to two thousand!
• the last century has seen an increased Islamization of the Labbai, associated with a desire to identify with the larger Muslim movement in India. Pray that the attraction of Islam would begin to weaken and that a desire to know the truth about Jesus might increase.
• God has used used the civil war in Sri Lanka as a wake-up call to the Church concerning outreach to the 2 million Tamil Muslims in their country. Pray for God's healing to come to this land throughn acts of love and kindness shown by His people.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, we believe this is the generation of Tamil Muslims that will acknowledge you and embrace your Son Jesus. May this be the hour of their awakening.
