Description: The Rohingya are an indo-Aryan people who are indigenous to Rakhine state in Myanmar, and whose language is related to the Bengali people. Beginning in the 8th century AD they began converting to Islam.
Prayer Points:
• The Rohingya are regarded as the most persecuted minority in the world. The Burmese government denies them citizenship, bans them from owning land, and only allows two children per family. Pray that the spirit of destruction might be broken and for the gospel of peace to reign.
• Rohingya have migrated all over the world as a result of the difficulties they face in their homeland. Over 400,000 have migrated to Saudi Arabia. Pray that the estimated 50,000 evangelical overseas workers in Saudi Arabia might make an intentional effort to reach out to the Rohingya.
• The Burmese government has restricted the access of the Rohingya to education and as a result many are being radicalized in fundamentalist madrassas. Pray that believers might be able to address this issue and establish alternative education options for Rohingya children.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, reach down with your love and redeem the Rohingya people. Deliver them from those who seek to harm them through the faithful intercession of your people.
Every year 14,000 Rohingya die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
