Description: The Iraqi Sunni Arabs consist of over 150 tribal confederations, many of which are of ancient origin. Most migrated to the region from Arabia following the Islamic conquest of the Persian empire in the 7th century.
Prayer Points:
• Iraqi Sunni Arabs are deeply divided betweeen Shiites, a division which originated in their country and affects the entire Muslim world. Pray that the bitterness and violence which has come from this century-old religious conflict might lead Iraqi Arabs to seek the prince of peace and savior of the world, Jesus Christ.
• Around 200,000 Iraqi Arabs are now refugees in Jordan, among whom some are now responding to the gospel. Pray for the church in Jordan that they might continue to open their doors in love to these seekers in spite of the risks involved.
• Only a few full-time workers are laboring in Iraq among Arabs. Pray for creative ways to bring them the gospel, and for faith among God's people that all things are possible in obedience to God's will.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, every day you are reminding us of the needs among Iraqi Arabs. May your concern for their salvation become our concern and may your glory fill their land through your Son Jesus.
