Description: The Azeris are the third largest Turkish ethnicity in the world. Their language is closely related to Anatolian Turkish. As an ethnic group they are divided culturally between the Persian Azeris and the Azerbajanis, the two populations having been isolated from one another due to regional politics.
Prayer Points:
• Praise God for the recent completion of the Bible in Azeri. Pray for its effective use among Azeri believers for both discipleship and evangelism.
• Ask God to thrust out Azeri believers in Azerbaijan to proclaim the gospel among the Iranian Azeris, which are twice as large in population.
• Praise God for the transition from a Russified Azeri Church to a truly indigenous one. Pray for the selection and training of Azeri leaders, and for God's continued blessing on the Bible colleges in Baku.
A Prayer: Father, we pray that the love of Jesus would overtake your Azeri children and that many would turn to You as their Father.
Every year 134,000 Iranian Azeri die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
