Description: The Kurds are closely related to the Iranian people-cluster. Linguistic, tribal and religious differences among them have kept the Kurds from uniting into a nation-state. Throughout history, the Turks, Arabs and Persians have successfully divided and conquered Kurdistan, resulting in four major Kurdish minority populations, the largest of which is in Turkey.
Prayer Points:
• The Turkish government has persecuted the Kurds and tried to diminish the use of their language and culture. Pray that their value and purpose as a people might be restored in Christ who made them to reflect the glory of God.
• Many Kurds are beginning to respond to the gospel in major Turkish cities. Pray that God might raise up church-planters from these urban centers that will go into the heartland of the Turkish Kurds in the East.
• Turkish women fight alongside men in a rebel movement to create an independent Kurdish state. Pray that this courage might be channeled into a passion for Christ and building his Kingdom.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may the Turkish Kurds be a blessing to the nations and ambassadors of your praise throughout the Middle East.
Every year 125,000 Turkish Kurds die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
