Description: The Panjabi Hindus are a minority among the Panjabi people, the majority of which converted to Islam or Sikhism in the last five hundred years. One hundred years ago, a powerful movement brought many from the "untouchable" or outcast Chura people into Christianity. Those that remain regard themselves as guardians of the Hindu faith and are highly resistant to Christian conversion.
Prayer Points:
• Around 80% of the Panjabi Hindu population belong to Forward Castes, the highest of any Hindu group in India. The poverty of Indian missionaries limits their exposure to influential Panjabi families. Pray for supernatural power through healing and miracles to call attention to the eternal riches of Christ.
• Over 20 Panjabi Hindu castes are without any known believers. Pray that God will use the emerging breakthrough among the influential Jat caste to birth the church among these unreached peoples.
• Praise God for the updated Bible translation into Eastern Panjabi, the dialect spoken by Hindus. Pray for its wide distribution and effective use by missionaries and Panjabi believers.
