Description: The Marwari are the largest and most influential of the Rajasthani peoples. Although they originate from Jodhpur region of Rajasthan they are one of the most widespread and powerful trading communities in India, with concentrations in the cities of Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.
Prayer Points:
• The Marwaris control many of the largest media groups in India. Pray that God might use this influence to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout India, and for the redemption of this media from promoting violence and immorality to advancing Kingdom values in India.
• The Marwaris have many trading "jatis" or castes that fall under the high caste Bania classification in Hinduism. These castes typically only marry within their own group. Pray for spiritual breakthrough among all of them and for their transformation and unification through Christ.
• The widespread diaspora of the Marwaris throughout India presents both a challenge and an opportunity for the gospel. Pray for a people movement to Christ among them that will sweep through all their communities and become the catalyst for reaching other high castes throughout India.
