Description: The Kashmiri are a Dardic race, possibly related to the Nuristani and Pashai. Their language has been influenced by Indo-Iranian and Indo-Aryan languages such as Persian and Urdu. Similarities with Hebrews in language and culture lead some to believe they are one of the "lost tribes."
Prayer Points:
• The Kashmiri have been caught up in the tug of war between India and Pakistan who are fighting over their land. As Muslims they are considered suspect by Indians who believe they are loyal to Pakistan. Pray for God's heart to be given to Indian believers to reach out to the Kashmiri in spite of the risks.
• Following the 2005 earthquake in which 70,000 Kashmiris died, many doors opened up for long-term witness and fellowships of believers came into being as a result. Pray for the protection of these believers and for their courage in the midst of the dangers they face.
• Thousands of Kashmiri families have enrolled in Bible correspondence courses. Pray for effective follow-up with these seekers and that Churches would emerge within the homes of each participant.
