Description: The Tati are a cluster of related tribes who speak north-Western Iranian dialects such as Takestani and Eshtehardi. They live in both Iran and Azerbaijan near the Caspian Sea. It is likely that most of the Azeris were once Tatis who were assimilated by turkish invaders.
Prayer Points:
• In Azerbaijan the remaining Tati are losing their language and identity due to coercive efforts by the Azeris to absorb them into Turkish culture. Pray that this hostility shown by fellow Muslims might lead them to Jesus where they will have freedom to worship in spirit and truth.
• A community of Christian Armenians adopted the Tati language hundreds of years ago. Pray that God might awaken and revive this ancient Christian community to reach their Muslim Tati neighbors.
• There are no gospel resources in the Tati language, and missionary work has just begun among them. Pray for God's blessing on the work ahead and that many Tati would enter into their eternal calling as ministers of God's kingdom for their people.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may the good work you have begun among the Tati result in praise, glory and honor of your name, in this generation and through all eternity.
