Description: The Turkish Arabs live primarily in the Southeastern part of Turkey, especially along the Mediteranean coast. Many of them are Alawis, forming an historic connection with the current regime of Syria. Their true numbers may be three times current estimates from the government.
Prayer Points:
• The Turkish government actively seeks to repress Arab culture and language in their country. Many young people are now actively speaking Turkish, which is a great concern to the community. Pray that Turkish believers might reach out to the younger generation and encourage them to follow Christ from within their cultural heritage.
• Over 2 million Arabs from Iraq and Syria are now refugees in Turkey, some of whom have become believers. Pray for spiritual breakthrough in the Arab refugee camps that will impact that Turkish Arabs.
• Around 20,000 Turkish Arabs are descendants of the early Arab church which existed before Islam came. Pray for revival to come to these believers and that the Lord might use their witness powerfully.
