Description: Berbers living in France have migrated principally from Algeria, with a minority from Morocco. Around 1 million are Kabyles. Over the last thirty years they have formed their own urban communities and sub-culture within France.
Prayer Points:
• Berbers in France live in multi-generational households and are dependent upon one another for economic survival. This makes it very difficult for new believers. Pray for courage, faith and resolve amongst those making a decision to follow Jesus.
• Polls indicate that over 38% of French people do not trust or want Berbers in their country. The recent anti-Hijab laws in 2005 were seen as Islamiphobic and racist. Pray that Berbers might encounter true Christian witness in France that welcomes and loves them with the compasssion of Christ.
• A strong Christian movement is growing among the Kabyles in Algeria. Pray that this movement might develop a missionary vision that sends church-planters to France to reach their people and the post-Christian French as well.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are sovereign over the migration of people. We pray your will to be done within the Berbers in France whom you brought to this land that they might find you through Jesus Christ.
Every year 19,000 French Berbers die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
