May 10 / Turkmen

Description: The Turkmen are a confederation of seven major tribes, and many smaller ones, which speak related dialects and share a common history and identity as a military alliance of Turko-Mongolian nomadic bands. In their Southwestern migration, beginning in the 9th century, they absorbed many northern Iranian peoples, forming a unique culture and genetic mix.

Prayer Points:
• Praise God for the deployment of missionary teams throughout each of the major Turkmen population centers in the Middle East and Central Asia in the last decade. Pray that their work might be productive in spite of ministry restrictions and for continued open doors and open hearts.
• Pray for the completion of the Bible in Turkmen, and that its distribution in Turkmenistan would not be hindered by the government or religious leaders.
• Pray for specialized outreach to each of the major Turkmen tribes: the Teke, Yomut, Gokle, Salor, Saryk, Chaudor and Ersari.

A Prayer: Heavenly Father, be glorified and exalted among the Turkmen. Breakthrough the darkness with the light of your Son Jesus.

Every year 37,000 Turkmen die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
