Description: The Kurdish diaspora is concentrated in Germany and Western Europe. Most of them came fleeing oppression in their home countries of Turkey, Iraq and Iran. They are the world's largest and most persecuted stateless people.
Prayer Points:
• The Kurdish diaspora has worked hard to preserve their culture, language and identity in Europe. Nonetheless, Kurdish youth struggle to find their place. Pray for the restoration of their true identity in Christ and His Kingdom.
• Around 60,000 Yazidi Kurds have escaped the genocide against their people and found refuge in Germany. The Yazidi practice the traditional and ancient religion of the Kurds. Pray for healing from the trauma they have experienced and that God's people in Europe might open their hearts, homes and churches to welcome and assist them.
• The first Kurds in Europe were invited in the 1970s as guest workers, due to a shortage of labor in that period. As the economy has slowed down on the continent, there are rising tensions emerging. Pray that God's people would rise above these tensions and continue to demonstrate Christ's love to all those he has brought to us.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may your Word and the salvation of your Son find open hearts and receptive homes among every Kurdish family in the diaspora.
Every year 20,000 people of the Kurdish diaspora die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
